Handel’s Messiah with the New York Philharmonic and Joélle Harvey
Andrew Manze conducts five performances of Handel Messiah with the New York Philharmonic at David Geffen Hall this month, running from 12 to 16 December, with Joélle Harvey as one of the soloists. The performances will also feature the Westminster Symphonic Choir, Jennifer Johnson Cano, Ben Bliss, and Andrew Foster-Williams.
Manze, Harvey and the New York Philharmonic performed the Messiah together in 2013, met by critical acclaim:
“Ms. Harvey’s luminous soprano was well cast in the pastoral passages as well as in the gently lilting melody of “How beautiful are the feet.”… Mr. Manze drew a warm-bodied and agile performance from the Philharmonic players that brought out the rich textures and contours of Handel’s score.”
