Debut with Boston Symphony Orchestra
Andrew Manze travels to the United States this month to make his debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in concerts on 18, 19 and 20 April 2019.
Manze opens the concert with Concerto for String Orchestra by Graźyna Bacewicz, one of Poland’s most significant composers of the mid-20th century. Manze is then joined by and Francesco Piemontesi for Mozart Piano Concerto No.19, the orchestra’s first performances of the concerto at Symphony Hall in 25 years. The concerts culminate with Mendelssohn Symphony No.5 ‘Reformation’.
The concerts are the latest in a string of critically acclaimed collaborations between Manze and Piemontesi this year, which has also included concerts with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and a tour of Germany with Manze’s NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover.
